Music Artist Credits: How to Get Them Right

Artist credits are the identities that appear on a release. They are the most visible metadata in the entire pipeline.

A correct credit list is essential. The artist should be credited as the artist. Featured artists should be in the correct order. Every contributor should be listed: writers, composers, producers, mixers, and mastering engineers.

The most common credit errors are inconsistent artist names, missing featured artists, and incorrect ordering. A single release should use the same artist name across every platform.

Credits should be checked along with the rest of the metadata. A release that has perfect audio but wrong credits will have its streams attributed incorrectly.
