Artist Management and the Release Pipeline

An artist's career runs on releases, and releases run on dates. The release calendar is the central document of an artist's management.

Release dates are the most important decisions an artist makes, because they determine when the work will be heard. A date that is far from the next recording session is a date that will be missed.

A strong release pipeline connects releases to the rest of the calendar. Bookings, brand work, and promotional activity should all be planned around the same dates. When the calendar is honest, the artist can plan what is next without guessing.

The manager's job is not to fill the calendar. It is to make sure the calendar does not contradict itself. A release, a tour, and a brand film should not be scheduled in the same week with no buffer.

Management is about decisions. The artist owns the sound. The team owns the next step.
